CASE STUDY
Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm
Client: Forewind Limited
Summary of work completed
MarineSpace has been providing consultancy support to Forewind Ltd on the Dogger Bank Round Offshore Wind Farm project from 2012 to 2015. Initial work on the project involved formal technical review of all the chapters of the offshore Environmental Statement (ES) for the first project in the Zone, the 1.2GW Creyke Beck A and B project.
Following submission of the ES as part of the Development Consent Order (DCO) application, MarineSpace continued to support Forewind Ltd during the formal Examination Phase of the project, including technical input to Relevant Representations, Statements of Common Ground (SoCG) and
questions from the Examining Authortity (ExA) related to marine ecology and Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA). This support culminated in attendance at the Issue Specific Hearings in June 2014 as part of Forewind’s team of experts on these topics.
Similar support has been provided on the second Dogger Bank project, namely the 1.2GW Teesside A & B project, with MarineSpace acting as the lead author for the marine ecology elements of the EIA for this project. MarineSpace staff also attended the Teesside A & B Issue Specific Hearings on
marine ecology and HRA in October 2014.
With these marine developments being located in the Dogger Bank Site of Community Importance (SCI), they key issues surrounding the entire EIA have been related to marine ecological issues. Therefore, the input of MarineSpace staff to this element of the EIA (and HRA) processes has been a key part of the project.
